There’s something extra special about getting to photograph the same family year after year. Watching the Lewis family grow has truly been one of the highlights of my fall season since 2021 — back when little Milly was just a newborn.
This year, we met up at Big Springs Park in Springville, Alabama for their fall family photo session. It was a late November evening, and we caught that soft, moody blue hour light that makes everything feel just a little more magical. The trees still held on to the last of their autumn color, and the air had just the right amount of crispness to feel like fall.
Will and Liam (the oldest of the three kids, now around eight!) weren’t exactly excited about taking photos — which, let’s be honest, is super normal for dads and big kids — but we still managed to grab some sweet moments between all the playful energy. Alex (mom) has such a calm and joyful presence, and I loved seeing how she connected with each of the kids in such a gentle, loving way.
Milly, born in February 2021, is right at that perfect age where she’s curious and expressive and full of personality. And baby Walker, at just 10 months old, was all smiles and snuggles.
Photographing the Lewis family each fall has become such a meaningful tradition for me. I love seeing the kids grow, remembering favorite poses or little quirks from previous sessions, and just documenting this beautiful season of life as it shifts year to year.
